RE: Fixing water damage on the old Dodge (pics)

Thanks for letting us lazies live vicariously through you in your rebuild. I'm curious what your cost estimate (excluding the many hundreds of hours of labor) for the redo is?

RE: "Slideout Tubes" on Granite Ridge

We have a similar Granite Ridge. The locks should be deployed on the top of the slide between the wall and back edge of the wooden trim (at exactly the two points marked by the stickers you referred to). Deploy them by putting them in place and flipping the lever to tension the slide inward. These marked areas of the wall are braced, so don't put them elsewhere.
To echo another's sentiment, hang a ribbon or other indicator from the lock down to a visible place while the locks are in place and remind you that they are there, as trying to deploy the slide when these are engaged will cause severe damage. Love our Granite Ridge, hope you are enjoying yours.

RE: Slide Out Awning for Granite Ridge

Had one installed on mine, as most of our camping is done under trees (keeps leaves/needles off the slide); one small branch on the slide can damage the seal quite easily, and the slide gives me peace of mind.

Deception Pass State Park is beautiful, if you can get in.

RE: Where are the stabilizer jacks on a 2004 Jayco Granite Ridge

On my 2003 Granite Ridge the stabilizers are scissors-type and if you have them all four are easily visible even when retracted when you look under the motorhome. You'll have a 3 ft pole with a square fitting on one end that fits into each of the four sockets (marked on the lowest part of the outer side of the motorhome) that are used to manually extend the stabilizers. Two are right behind the cab, and two are just behind the rear axle. Don't use them to jack the vehicle, just lower them until they touch (putting a plank or leveler under them) and then crank one more revolution to stabilize. Adjust after a few hours of moving around in the coach, as they'll settle a bit. If your GR doesn't have them, it probably never did, as the (inexpensive) manual system on mine is probably more trouble removing than it is worth. Having said that, we use them to keep things upright with our two boys moving about constantly when camping.

RE: Setting up for brake controller

Just so I understand, your E450 came without a tow package, but it was already wired with a connector/adapter under the dash and wires run back to the rear axle?

RE: TV doesn't work with ignition on?????????

I tried this on my 2003 Granite Ridge and saw no such extra wire, just a fairly standard-looking piece of romex feeding the socket. Perhaps some of the GRs have the ignition cutoff wired somewhere else?

Easily done, or something I should have the shop do? Any opinions?

RE: Best RV Park in the Okanagan for Little Kids?

I was referring to Curlew State Park (62 State Park Rd Republic, WA 99166).
It is a very nice grassy park in the middle of desert country. Next to a wonderful lake for trout/muskie fishing, swimming, etc. Kid's activities a short drive away in Republic (fossil hunting, entertainment, etc.). You'll enjoy it. We didn't have reservations (we went in August) and I don't know if you can. During summer months, if you don't get there by Friday you may have to wait to get a spot.

RE: E450 Chassis Battery Specs?

I'm using a battery tender, and I understand that the battery tender is equally good. Both are readily available, very inexpensive to operate and won't boil the battery. You can find them referenced in several places on this site. Seems like I purchased mine for $40 at Costco or GI Joes.

RE: Jayco 31ss owners. Two thermostats?

In my 2003 Granite Ridge the back bedroom thermostat controls the fantastic fan (turns the fan on when temperature exceeds the temp on the thermostat and shuts it off when the room has cooled).

RE: Slideout lock question

I use them on my Granite Ridge, as it seems that they wouldn't have included them for use in transit if unnecessary.

Setting up for brake controller

My MH has a four pin electrical connector installed by the hitch. I have a trailer that I'll load quads on occasionally, and the trailer has electric brakes; maybe not necessary when being towed by the MH but preferable to have hooked up. Will a brake controller work with this MH set up, or do I need to convert it to a seven pin format? Is this a difficult task for someone moderately handy?
Thanks for your insights, A

RE: Best RV Park in the Okanagan for Little Kids?

I've heard Spectacle Lake is lovely. We spent 5 days at Lake Curlew, near Republic. Plenty of good swimming, fishing, walking, and a few things to do in outlying areas (fossil dig site for kids), local music group in Republic. If you have not been there you'll be pleasantly surprised in this little oasis.

RE: HELP--Serious condensation issues.

I was recommended (by someone on the forum) a Soleus dehumidifier to cure a similar condensation problem and purchased a 25 pint unit on eBay for our winter trips here in the PNW. It draws much more water out of the air than the DriZair. Works down to about 40 degrees, I've found, and it may be just what you are looking for. It operates surprisingly quietly and has automatic shutoff when full (or you can run a small hose into your shower so that it will run continuously). Good luck, A

Seattle's good Dim Sum place is House of Hong (by Qwest Field). Sea Garden (in Bellevue) is good, too.

RE: Help Solve My Mystery

I have slide out "jacks" that hold it in during travel, much heavier duty than these. A nice guess, though, winning you second place.
It sounds like Don has solved the mystery. The new mystery is why they are in here; must have been left behind by the prior owner, so I'll make sure they are returned. As always, the forum and its many combined years of experience has come through. Best, Andy
